“Melissa is quick, smart, innovative, savvy, easy and fun to work with, and she has a wealth of contacts and resources for her clients.”
Nancy Judd,
Owner, Recycle Runway
Nancy Judd of Recycle Runway found me in the Yellow Pages! When we first met, we realized we had friends in common and discussed a logo for her new business. We quickly discovered she needed much more than that. I recommended her to Bette Bradbury of WESST, and with our help, Nancy created an innovative commission- and sponsor-based business model for her environmental education company that develops couture fashion from trash. Her dream was to stop preaching to the already-recycling choir, and instead, teach recycling through fashion via airport exhibits.
We started with a mini-workshop on branding and decided on a business name with the help of a focus group. I designed the logo and her website. We created airport exhibit materials for Albuquerque and Pittsburgh, including a :30 promotional spot for her big show in Atlanta. I won’t forget helping Nancy put up her first airport exhibit in the glass cases in the Albuquerque Sunport right next to the parking garage. So many people stopped by to talk about what we were doing!
Through Nancy’s buoyant spirit and enterprising drive, Recycle Runway has been featured on the cover of the Wall Street Journal, has brought recycling to hundreds of classrooms, and had one of her pieces accepted into the permanent collection at The Smithsonian. Most importantly, her work has inspired thousands nationally to change their thinking about recycling.
